Evasion

What It Does

  • Evasion determines the chance for a character to dodge an incoming attack entirely.

  • A successful dodge results in no damage taken and prevents any associated effects (e.g., debuffs, burns, slows).

Formula

  • Chance to Hit = Opponent Accuracy% - Defender’s Evasion%.

    • If Chance to Hit ≤ 0%, the attack misses.

    • If Chance to Hit > 0%, the attack has that percentage likelihood of hitting.

Gameplay Impact

  • High evasion characters are agile and difficult to hit, excelling at avoiding damage but often at the cost of durability or consistent offense.

  • Low evasion characters rely on defense or health to mitigate damage since they are frequently hit.

Strengths

  • Provides a chance to avoid damage entirely, making it a valuable stat in prolonged fights.

  • Synergizes well with abilities or items that punish missed attacks or enhance dodge capabilities.

Weaknesses

  • Evasion is unreliable by nature, making it less effective in high-stakes situations.

  • Against high-accuracy opponents, evasion’s effectiveness diminishes significantly.

Example Scenarios

  1. A character with 25% Evasion against an opponent with 80% Accuracy:

    • Chance to Hit = 80% - 25% = 55%.

    • The attacker lands 55% of their attacks, while the defender dodges 45%.

  2. A character with 10% Evasion against an opponent with 90% Accuracy:

    • Chance to Hit = 90% - 10% = 80%.

    • The attacker lands 80% of their attacks, with only 20% dodged.
